CNY Political Leadership Institute

CNY Political Leadership Institute (PLI) Classes Start Soon!

Perhaps you saw the opinion letter on the editorial page of the local newspaper from the CNY PLI co-chairs Bill Sanford and Joe Rossi. It highlighted the reason for the upcoming 2018 classes -- to walk citizens through the local political process in an easily understandable way so that they can become more active in their respective communities through better understanding the political process, working on a campaign and even running for office.

Since the start of this completely non-partisan program in 2010, 162 individuals have learned how to navigate the political process. Some of the PLI graduates have become committee people, campaign staff and candidates for (and won) a range of local offices, local mayors, state assembly, county legislature, town clerk, county clerk, town supervisor, zoning board, town and school boards. The cost of the eight-week program is $100 for the series of classes, supplies and dinner at each session; scholarships are available. Classes are led by experienced moderators with carefully chosen panelists and lecturers who share their own personal experiences in a carefully non-partisan approach with each class.
